DROP BOX??? For a linux admin?
ReplyDeleteWhy the hell are you not using samba in your organization???
I think the explanation is in the description: "Users can enjoy all of their files while out and about on the go..." As in, you AREN'T necessarily in your office, and therfore a samba server is going to be inaccessible, whereas a Dropbox account could be reached even through a web browser if no other option was available.
DeleteI'll endorse nagios and tcpdump, possibly a live cd of some sort for both recovery and disk destruction. The others seem to be a stretch for me for someone that does a lot of administration of a lot of boxes. Deny host has existed for years in tcp_wrappers out of the box in most distributions. With security as an issue, it sounds like a lot of services are open that should be locked down. Learn to embrace the command line. As for Dropbox, convenience is good, however you may need to check the corporate policy on storage of corporate files in a non-approved third party provider.
