Linux Mint 17 Xfce quick screenshot tour

Linux Mint team produces a number of distributions. Of course, the most famous of them are based on Cinnamon and MATE desktop environments.
However, KDE- and Xfce-based versions of Linux Mint also find their fans.

Linux Mint 17 Xfce was released today. Let's look at what it offer to the user. This is not going to be a full-blown review, rather a quick screenshot tour in the Live session.

When booted, Linux Mint 17 Xfce lands you on the screen very similar to Cinnamon or MATE edition. The same desktop wallpaper is shared across all of them. However, Xfce roots are visible straight away in the arrangement of panel items.

Freshly booted Linux Mint 17 Xfce took about 6% of the memory of my laptop, which is about 180 Mb. Quite a lot for an Xfce edition, I would say.

Of course, Linux Mint 17 Xfce, like all products of Mint family, comes with all the necessary codecs. You can watch YouTube videos or listen to MP3 music straight away. Xfburn is a tool here to burn your own disks.

The selection of wallpapers in Linux Mint 17 Xfce is very similar or even identical to Cinnamon and MATE editions. If you want to use your own drawing skills, GIMP is to your service. Those who wants to scan images can use Simple Scan tool.

A set of LibreOffice 4.2.3.3 applications, including Calc, Writer, Impress, Draw, Math, but without Base, is in Linux Mint 17 Xfce distribution. Dictionary is also available straight out of the box.
Internet tools of Linux Mint Xfce

Thunderbird, Pidgin and HexChat are to the service of those Linux Mint 17 Xfce users who need to communicate through Internet. If you like downloading files via torrent, then Transmission is your default choice here. Of course, Firefox 28 is the default browser.
